NEW PAINTINGS AT VIEWPOINTS GALLERY

As the featured artist at Viewpoints Gallery in Los Altos, CA, for the month of February 2015, I produced a series of paintings called "Colors of Kauai."  My intent was to capture some of the glorious colors I saw in the flowers, sunsets, and landscapes in that beautiful island setting.  Here are a few of the paintings I produced:

In April 2012, I finished 5 paintings of Venice - images that appealed to me and reflected what I loved most about being in Venice.  I struggled with how to show the bright red of the gondola seat and the table cloths in the outdoor cafe.  I finally found that many layers of Winsor & Newton Winsor Red watercolor paint did the trick.  I've also become enamored of painting reflections in water.  Fun!!

Here's another recently completed painting entitled "Busy Bee." On a recent trip to Alaska, I photographed many of the beautiful wild flowers I saw as we were hiking. This image included a bee with the gorgeous blossoms.

New Still Life Painting

Here's a painting I recently completed. I was going to call it "Bread and Wine", but that sounded like it had a religious theme. Since the image contains part of an Italian wine bottle, I chose to call it "Vino e Pane."

Two new orchid paintings

After attending the Pacific Orchid Exposition in San Francisco in March with a painting group, where I took 430 photos of orchids (!!!), I picked a couple of my favorite images and painted them. I incorporated some air brush, which was new for me and was lots of fun.

Painting accepted into National Watercolor Society all-member show

This painting, Taking a Break in Zakopane, was accepted into the National Watercolor Society annual all-member show. The balloon seller and the young man in an animal costume are taking a break from their jobs as entertainers on the main street of Zakopane, Poland, which is swarming with tourists and families out for the day.
